Commission Process

A step by step guide to creating your custom artwork or gift:

Step 1

Drop the artist an email or telephone the studio

> contact the artist. Step 2

Choose a range of photographs of your pet for the portrait.

The more photographs the better (some send three, some send 10) as this will enable the artist to get a good feel for your pet and its personality. The artist will work with you to select the photograph that best portrays your pet. If your pictures are too dark the artist is able to alter them on the computer allowing you to send some pictures that may otherwise not be good enough to work from. Where feasible, the artist is willing to come and photograph your pet for the drawing. Step 3

Have a think what size you would like.

This could depend on whether you want your pet to fill the frame (example 1) or for the pet to be in a more unusual composition (example 2). Generally the smallest size artworks are for portraits only with the exceptions of larger animals such as horses that would like to commission a larger canvas. Consult the artist who will advise options. > view drawing sizes Step 4

Discuss what you do and do not want.

Consider which examples from the artist’s gallery you like as there are varying styles from a photographic representation (example 3) to a more loose abstract style (example 4). Step 5

Email digital photos or post your photos to the studio.

Make sure you include your contact details and a little information about the characteristics of your pet. Step 6

The artist will send you a quote, based on your requirements.

If this is satisfactory a 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure this quote and a place in the artist’s schedule. Step 7

On completion the artist will email you a proof photograph of your drawing for approval.

Alterations can be discussed if necessary. When you are happy, the artist will request the balance*. On receipt, your artwork will be posted.

*Please carefully check the proof photo before sending the balance.
The artist is unable to offer refunds once the artwork has been posted.
